How folks in Pakistan can make most out of ‘Black Friday’from local portals ?

What is Black Friday?

An obvious and frequently occurring question in the minds of readers is about Black Friday. What it is? Why does it sound like some sort of depressing holiday?

The term ‘Black Friday’ comes originally from United States of America. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day and the Friday before Cyber Monday.

There are two popular theories as to why the day after Thanksgiving Day is called Black Friday. One theory is that the wheels of vehicles in heavy traffic on the day after Thanksgiving Day left many black markings on the road surface, leading to the term Black Friday.

The other theory is that the term Black Friday comes from an old way of recording business accounts. Losses were recorded in red ink and profits in black ink. Many businesses, particularly small businesses, started making profits prior to Christmas. Many hoped to start showing a profit, marked in black ink, on the day after Thanksgiving Day.

No matter why it is known as Black Friday, it is one of the biggest shopping days in the whole year. The whole day is marked with lucrative deals and sales on items ranging from newest gadgets to daily usage items. Popularity of this day has reached other countries too, with many emulating its success using different names and interpretations.

Black Friday in Pakistan

Some online shopping sites tried replicating the success of Black Friday last year. Although there have been varying claims about the extent of its success, many users reported that some online websites crashed due to an overwhelming number of users trying to get their hands on discounted items. However, such issues are to be expected when trying out something for the first time.

This year, on 25th November, Pakistani sites are again celebrating Black Friday with huge discounts on their products. Users will be able to avail these deals on following websites:

1. Daraz.pk

Daraz.pk was among the first sites to introduce this tradition to Pakistani users. They are back this year with huge discounts on all their items. Daraz is offering a discount of up to 70 percent on their products. They are also sweetening up their deals with extra 2,000 Rs discount by using easypay. The deals will go live on the website on 25th of November for 24 hours. But with their official mobile app, users can get access to deals 2 days earlier.

2. Clicky.pk

Similar to Daraz.pk, Clicky.pk is also offering a discount of up to 70 percent on select items. In addition to that, it is also offering 80 percent discount on some Men and Women Fashion brands. Keep in mind that Clicky is currently only dealing with recognized and popular brands. It boasts an impressive catalog of 40,000 products currently available for purchase on the website. Clicky.pk provides users with an amazing instant search feature to sift through its immensely huge listing of products.

3. Yayvo.com

Yayvo, shopping website backed by TCS Pakistan, is another big player in the ecommerce segment of Pakistan. Considered as of the biggest rival of Rocket Internet ventures, Yayvo is doing Black Friday Sales in partnership with Jazz Cash. The website is offering up to 80% discount on select list of items. The list of discounted items will be revealed in the days to come.

4. Homeshopping.pk

Technically, Homeshopping.pk is not participating in ‘Black Friday’ sales this year, neither they did last year. Instead, they are conducting ‘White Friday’ sales 25th November. What is the difference between White Friday of Homeshopping.pk and Black Friday of other sites? Nothing except for the name. The concept is same and Homeshopping will offer similar deals on their items. Like other websites, the deals will go live on the site on 25th of November.

5. Kaymu.pk

Kaymu and Daraz, although they continue to work under different banners, announced their merger in June this year. Both sites are working under the single entity known as Daraz group. So it makes sense that Kaymu is also cashing on the popularity of Black Friday like its partner site. Items which are up for grab on discounted prices on 25th November will be available here.

Like last year, Daraz seems to be hosting the biggest sale on this occasion. Considering the limited stocks available, users will have to vigilant and quick in their shopping to avail the best possible deals. We will keep updating this space as more players announce Black Friday Sales.
